The past two days have been incredibly eventful. On Monday, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with a tournament to determine the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. We presented eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X games to compete against each other, all heading towards a final showdown where the leading contender from each console would go head-to-head. There have been some nail-biting finishes in the initial matchups, particularly yesterday’s razor-thin votes. At this point, it's time to crown the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles before the championship on Thursday.

PlayStation 5 Contenders

On the PS5 side, we have the giant-slayer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise given that it won top honors at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its win against God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. But to get to the finals, it'll need to defeat the MVP of the PlayStation 5 era: the acclaimed developer. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a smooth path to the final four, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another Insomniac game!) to land in the semi-finals. Can Spidey topple a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he fated to become a miniature appearance in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

Xbox Series X Contenders

The Xbox Series X side has been more exciting. Emerging victorious from a diverse lineup of competitors is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the racing adventure title so far, demonstrating that a niche category title earns to be on the equal footing as classic platformers and story-driven epics. Its last roadblock en route to the finals is a major challenge, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a fan favorite, defeating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to Xbox itself? If anyone can pull that off, it's likely Indiana Jones.
