Passengers flying with the airline will soon access fast wifi during flights free of charge due to a recent agreement with the billionaire's satellite firm.

Free plus High-speed Internet Available to Everyone

The carrier revealed that the complimentary, “reliable and lightning-fast” wifi offering from Starlink becomes available to travelers in economy, business, or premium cabins starting soon.

Broad Deployment Over Various Airlines

The parent firm for the airline, IAG, stated it had finalized an agreement involving Starlink to provide connectivity coverage for 500-plus aircraft within their airlines, such as Aer Lingus, the Spanish carrier, and the low-cost airline.

Seamless Connectivity starting at Boarding through Arrival

British Airways stated that this introduction for this technology formed part of a seven billion pound “modernization” plan that will provide smooth wifi access to travelers from boarding through arrival, even when they are flying above large bodies of water and remote regions.

Passengers can connect multiple gadgets and won't need to require a unique login.

“Gamechanging for the airline as well as passengers, improving their experience onboard our flights through providing customers continuous internet throughout the flight.”

Existing Connectivity Options

Basic internet service remains provided to British Airways passengers on most of the airline's aircraft using the .air service.

Participants of the airline's reward scheme can transmit texts and text-only emails onboard free of charge, whereas flyers wishing to stream audio, films, and movies during their flight and are not travelling in first class can expect to be charged from four pounds ninety-nine to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine for one wifi package.

The provider uses a network comprising thousands with spacecraft which is managed under the billionaire's aerospace firm.

Ongoing Upgrades for British Airways

The airline's management has been focusing to improve operations again following years with cost cutting, system failures, strikes, and mass redundancies.

The airline noted that application with smart technology had helped it to reach the airline's on-time performance to the best levels since 2012.

Earnings Performance

In August, British Airways disclosed a jump in financial performance during the first half of this year, assisting its owner profit upward.

IAG is set to release its results for Q3 from July to September shortly.

Other SpaceX Deals

This announcement arrives shortly following mobile phone carrier another UK company revealed it was teaming up with the satellite provider to enhance cellular coverage in rural parts of the UK, by allowing users to seamlessly link phones through space-based systems if there is no standard cellular service can be found.
